The Geography of India


India is the 7th largest country in world when it comes to its vast area. The Indian map constitutes of 29 states in total. There are 5 regions in India- North, South, Central, East and West parts.

Each state has its own kind of terrain, wildlife, ecosystem and climates. This is what makes the geography of India so diverse.

States like Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Sikkim, and Himachal Pradesh are very famous for its greenery and nature. Jammu and Kashmir is located on this top most part of the Indian map where you could find the highest peak of India, the infamous Mount Everest. On the other hand, you have the state of Rajasthan, the land of deserts, sand dunes and camels. The climate of Rajasthan is very extreme. It gets really hot in the summer and really cold in the winter.

The western part of India is situated on the coastal side where it is surrounded by the Arabian Sea. Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa are the states that make up the western India. These states are famous for the one of the most greenest and dense forests and the infamous mountain ranges called the Western Ghats. The western India climate is tropical because of its coasts.

 Another part of the Indian map would be the south India.  South India consists of the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. These states are famous for their lush and dense forests. On the eastern side of India, you have the Indian rivers that meet and make up the Delta. The states of West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Assam make up the eastern India.
